Dior presents a new fragrance, Dior Sauvage, complemented by a short film starring Johnny Depp and directed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino.
Not only is he one of our favourite actors, and not only do we dream about him a few times a week, but now we also know that the man in our dreams also smells good thanks to Dior Sauvage. In a sleek navy shirt and looking more smouldering than ever, Johnny Depp is the new face for Dior’s new fragrance for men. Made for the powerful and authentic, the fragrance blends fresh with confident and instinct with freedom.
“Out of my head, into my heart” says Johnny in the film. We watch him transform from a man stuck in the futility of the urban city, trusting the boundaries society has placed for him, into a man of natural instinct, a man who knows his inner-savage. The campaign promotes self-knowledge and self-discovery, connoting how authenticity can always be found deep within ourselves.
Set in the bold and glorious landscape that is Joshua Tree, Jean-Baptiste Mondino creates a film that places an array of hidden meanings within the manipulative effects of time, light, and our capacity to pin-point surrealism at its best. We can guess that the use of the savage wolf might be an emblem for Johnny Depp’s departure from a tainted metropolitan life and arrival into the mystic land of Christian Dior.
The fragrance campaign will go live on the 3rd of September.
