Bonadea

Your new indulgent homeware destination.

In our current streaming instant knock-off culture, it’s easy to forget that creative, innovative and beautiful design comes at a cost, usually to the designer. Bonadea is a new luxury homeware destination that recognises this and has made a commitment, not only to seeking out the best in contemporary homeware design, but similarly to making itself a platform for artisans to really connect with their customers.

Emphasis on detail is clear throughout its offering, from the Domino effect collection – tableware created with sharp graphic lines contrasting with earthy ceramics featuring precise blocked stripes and full squares that are oddly reminiscent of the uptake in block shape or simple line work tattoos recently. Elsewhere ceramic hearts for grown up goths who now have the necessary budget unavailable to them in youth, handmade with a range of playful monochrome illustrations. Their Fos Ceramiche Seaweed Vase, pictured above, invokes beautiful wafting texture in solid ceramic, ripples and flutters in the material keep you staring, expecting it to move. The biscuit porcelain (porcelain that hasn’t been glazed) is a beautiful texture and also a more raw and unpolished finish, a contemporary edge on an ancient process.

As well as lone craftspeople creating unique homeware, Bonadea has some big names on board: Versace has designed a range for Rosenthal, bringing the lavish Italian fashion powerhouse to your dining table. Taking inspiration from Italy’s proud history of decadent design, you can sip your tea from a cup and saucer that could be a gem from a museum archive, or pour your drinks from a decanter with a delicate Medusa head stopper (below right). If conspicuous consumption is the aim of the game this focus on craftsmanship is surely the way to fill your home with artefacts that spell life, story and beauty. Get your fix here.
