Dean and Dan take us on a whistle-stop tour of American life.

Hawaii 5-O

For their SS18 show, Dean and Dan Caten served a delicious mix of flavours that had our minds going all over the place. Gorgeous, bright Hawaiian shirts, shorts, jackets and trousers (in a plethora of different colours and patterns, think florals, think leopard print) had us imagining ourselves beach-side with a Piña Colada or two throughout the show. But it didn’t stop there, the hibiscus motif also made it onto leather jackets, skirts and trousers; styling the Hawaiian pieces with heavy-duty biker leather gave it a stronger, edgier vibe, simultaneously evoking low-key Magnum P.I. vibes.

Adventure is Out There!

Carrying over the look from the pair’s resort collection, models took to the runway in utilitarian shirts and parkas covered in badges with caps and neckerchiefs, all set and ready for a scout camp nature trek. Elsewhere though, pairing these throwback appropriate shirts with black tulle skirts and dresses on the girls – and leather boots on the boys – had us thinking that these scouts might have outgrown their butter-wouldn’t-melt hobby and are instead off somewhere much more exciting to cause a little moe trouble. Wherever it is, we’re tagging along.

Senior Prom

If there wasn’t already enough going on, the Caten brothers offered up vintage prom looks in the form of frothy tulle dresses worn with biker caps, and pretty pastel tuxedos that were expertly tailored. Taking the stage for the collection’s concluding finale, it certainly felt a fitting end to an offering that seemed, at least in part, inspired by (80s) American life.
