Soon after emigrating from vibrant Luoyang, China to picturesque Pennsylvania at a young age, Amber Wang ventured into the glamorous modelling world under the mentorship of influential supermodel Coco Rocha. From there, Amber progressed rapidly, amassing an impressive array of editorial features and taking to the runway for GHHAUS during the famed New York Fashion Week.
Now, Amber is turning her attention to the captivating big screen, starring in her first groundbreaking feature film, #MODELS WANTED. This compelling film sheds light on the harrowing issue of sex trafficking in the modelling industry, giving a powerful voice to victims who are often left unheard. Amber has consistently used her prominent platform to address critical social issues, highlighting the unseen struggles of international students and advocating passionately for global mental health.
We connected with Amber to discuss her latest film, her transformative time with Coco Rocha, and her deep admiration for the iconic Maye Musk.

Hey Amber! Can you tell us about your journey into modelling?
I was shopping with my friends at the mall when I was scouted by Barbizon Modelling Agency. At that time, I was still in school, but it gave me the idea that I might want to start modelling at some point.
How did being mentored by Coco Rocha influence your modelling career and personal growth?
In the beginning, Coco taught me how to pose and walk. Later on, I practiced every day. Practice makes perfect. Once, I met Coco at an Alice and Olivia event. She told me she was glad to see her students everywhere. I really appreciated that.
Can you share your thoughts on the impact you hope #MODELS WANTED will have on the public and the modelling industry?
We want to raise awareness in the modelling industry about how to avoid scams, find the right agency, and stay safe.
What was it like walking the runway during NYFW for GHHAUS? Any memorable moments you’d like to share?
I love the collaboration between GHHAUS and different artists. It feels like walking art.
With such a diverse career already, what are your future aspirations in modelling, acting, and beyond?
Maybe becoming a singer in the future. Haha.
Who are some of your biggest inspirations or role models, both within and outside of the modelling industry?
Maye Musk. She is my idol! I think she has inspired me a lot. I love her book “A Woman Makes a Plan.” It gives me a lot of positive energy. I remember a quote from the book that always supports me: “Stay as positive as you can.”
Are there any upcoming projects you can share with us?
Summer is coming. It will be a bright summer! I hope to try different roles in the future!
