Carving a unique sonic pocket that captures the progressive London zeitgeist, rising Ivor Award-winning creative Mysie is a name to watch in the English capital. She just supported IAMDDB, and has now shared her most succinct sonic manifesto to date—her debut mixtape.
“CONTROLLA”, released via ONErpm, is eclectic in style and mood. With clear house and UKG tendencies, the singer-songwriter and producer explores a multitude of electronic styles, amalgamating a sound that is spritely, animated and ethereal. Featuring breakout single “CTRL” and the tape’s lead offering “KITTY ON TOP”, the 10-pronged project is full of sonic highlights, clever songwriting and hazy cadences.

I love Yaeji and I love everything about this song. The drums are so clean and the build-up of the production is hot.

Listen, if there’s one thing Disclosure does, is they come with CHORDS GALORE!!! This song is just too good, they’ve always been an influence.
DJ ZK3 – “AUTOMOTIVO ANGELICAL V4”
Brazilian Phonk at its finest. I was listening to a lot of Phonk the past few years and wow there’s something about the chords and rhythm that just get me!
Doechii – “Crazy”
This song actually reignited this energy in me. Never seen and heard anything so energetic and free like that. It really reminded me of Kelis. This really made me dig and find my inner voice for this project.
Cookies Kawaii – “Energy Pt. 3”
First of all this whole project is the one. I love how fresh the production is on this. I love jersey club and I love how fun it is to listen to this. Vocal chops… Yes.
Kelela – “Contact”
Oh Kelela does not know what she does to me. The drums, the vocals are everything. I love how atmospheric this is, I was definitely inspired by this at the end of KITTY ON TOP. So smooth.
Myd – “The Sun”
Myd really takes me to a nostalgic place whenever I listen to him. The chords are so wavy and that’s what my whole mixtape is about…. wavey chords.
Azealia Banks – “Liquorice”
One word: timeless. And that is all I have to say!
ROSALÍA ft. Tokischa – “LA COMBI VERSACE“
This is one of my favourites on Motomami, like..wow. The vocal chops in this song are nuts and seeing it performed live was insane!!
SBTRKT ft. Sampha – “Temporary View”
I feel like I only listen to this song when I’m travelling on long journeys. The whole album is so special. Those gamey synths really influenced the sound of my mixtape. LOVE LOVE LOVE!
