It’s been a good run for the Heartstopper fam, after three tantalisingly binge-worthy seasons, the closing edition is already being teased, and its set to release in the form of a movie.

Over the past three years, Netflix’s wildly popular queer romance series, Heartstopper, has instilled the romcom world with a new lease of life, as watchers swoon over Nick and Charlie’s love story, watching the pair transition into adulthood alongside one another. The TV series, which is based on Alice Oseman’s YA webcomic and graphic novel series, starring Joe Locke, and Wonderland’s Autumn 2023 cover star Kit Connor, sheds light on the highs and lows of teenagehood. Think: falling in love for the first time, the queer experience, and all of the angsty chaos that follows (we all remember what it was like to be young, dumb and in love, right?). Its most recent edition, which launched in September, sees the power couple in a more mature light, as the series tackles some more hard-hitting topics, exploring real-world issues like eating disorders, mental health, and sex. 

With 6.1 million viewers on its back, and seven long months of waiting, season four’s announcement – the final chapter for Heartstopper – comes with a seismic shift, as Nick and Charlie’s love story is set to become a fully-fledged romcom. In other words, the TV series’ closing offering is going to be a movie! Whilst we don’t have a release date just yet, we do know it will be based around Oseman’s upcoming sixth volume in her novella series. Catch us already grieving the encroaching end of this Heartstopping era (pardon the pun), we’re predicting that it’s going to be a tissues-at-the-ready kind of movie: chock-full of heart wrenching, and belly laughing moments.
