Tottenham singer-songwriter Nippa raises his artistry to new heights on EP, “Hope She Hears This”. He takes Wonderland through the work, track-by-track.
Among the smoothest crooners habituated in the UK capital, Nippa has built a reputation as a slick and soulful R&B presence. His new EP, “Hope She Hears This” is his longest body of work to date — and his most concise.
With sharper songwriting that tackles heartbreak and resolution, a potent and colour-laden myriad of instrumentals and a growth of his vocal range and nuance, the work finds the North London artist flourishing.
Emotionally vulnerable yet brimming with charisma, the project puts Nippa ever closer to the highest echelon of homegrown talent. He stops by Wonderland to take us through the work, track-by-track.

“Insecure”
Insecure is about me trying to make the relationship work. Doing everything that I can, but still being met with distance despite all that I was putting in. It’s me trying to show her all that I can give to her, all that I can provide, all the love I have to give – but still getting the silent treatment. Like, help me out!
“Sum’n Serious”
For “Sum’n Serious”, I wanted to create a bit more of a “jiggy” vibe. The track is essentially me trying to sort out the issues in the relationship, coming to a solution, and understanding if we’re aligned and on the same page. It felt like she was pulling away, whilst I was trying to push. I was trying to be serious and build something, get through the issues and it was a question of whether we were really going to give it all up. I wanted her to know that she could tell me if I was falling short, but also wanting her to be receptive to having the same conversation from my perspective.
“Regular Girl”
“Regular Girl” is about me recognising that she was above every other woman. It was about not looking at her as just another love interest. She is irregular, unique, one of one. Anything she tells me to do, I’m gonna do it. She’s no regular girl, so I can’t let her go!
“Kiki’s Brown Eyes”
“Kiki’s Brown Eyes” is about how much I actually appreciated her and saw her for who she was. It’s me expressing how much I appreciated her soul, her insecurities and imperfections. The little things, like her brown eyes. The things that she didn’t notice, but I did, and seeing the beauty in all of it.
“1 Month In Toronto”
“1 Month In Toronto” is definitely a nod to PartyNextDoor, my favourite artist. I came back from a trip to Toronto and wanted to pay homage to how much the city has influenced me, my sound and how I create. I really love Party’s “P1” album, it shaped me as a musician and is the record that pushed me to do music. This song was one I felt I owed to myself above anything.
“WYD Here?”
This track was inspired by an encounter with an ex partner, after bumping into her and feeling quite taken aback. I got nervous, my palms started sweating and shit. I didn’t really know what to say to her, as I didn’t expect to see her. So it’s just about how I navigated that situation.
“Unfair”
“Unfair” is about me finding myself again. It’s about recognising all that I had gone through and invested and still feeling like I had been hung out to dry. I had reached a point where I finally understood my own worth and was open to finding love elsewhere, and realising that things would get better after moving on.
“One More”
“One More” is about me turning to other vices to mask my responsibilities. After the relationship ended, I was running away from my problems rather than facing them head on.
