As the French film festival wraps its latest edition, BAFTA and Emmy-winning presenter Nikki Lilly takes Wonderland behind the scenes of her dazzling evening on the Croisette.

“Some of my red carpet essentials and a coffee to get me through the day!”

”Mid glam, feeling zen.”

“Finally putting THE dress on, it was so exciting to see it all come together. obviously with my stylist Heloise to help… this took longer than expected.”

Walking the red carpet at Cannes was truly a surreal and unforgettable experience. The last time I was here was when I received my Emmy award, so just being back felt emotional. The energy, the atmosphere, and the history of the festival made every second feel so special and unlike anything else. Being a cinephile, even just being at Cannes was enough excitement for me – let alone actually walking the carpet!
I could never have imagined, even in my wildest dreams, that I’d one day be there in that way. Partnering with L’Oréal Paris for such a moment was incredibly meaningful… they stand for confidence and empowerment, and being part of their family during such an iconic event was an absolute honour. It felt like a celebration not just of cinema, but of self-expression and the power of believing in your worth. It was affirming and validating, and I know my younger self wouldn’t believe it. I really hope others like me feel seen in that, and know that it is possible.
I was incredibly nervous – the fear of the unknown is so real, and no matter how many moments like this I’ve had, the anxiety never really goes away. But once I was on the carpet, I reminded myself to just be present and soak in what a once-in-a-lifetime experience it truly is. I’m so grateful to L’Oréal for bringing me along for the ride – hopefully it’s the first, but not the last. – Nikki Lilly
