Already making her mark on the digital realm with the gamer girl inspired “Nintendo Bitch” and viral “Love Bracelets”, the Los Angeles born singer’s strongest asset is her unapologetic approach to songwriting, focusing her attention on themes of self-love, vulnerability, and motivating listeners to live their dreams and “find purpose in a materialistic world”.

Indeed, one of IZZA’s pop culture fueled fantasy comes to life in her latest music video for “POPSTAR”, where she impersonates Y2K divas such as Gwen Stefani, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera getting Pop Star trained in an aseptic white space.

It looks like IZZA is not going to stop anytime soon, producing timeless music that perfectly encapsulates the essence of two-thousands pop and merging it with contemporary Gen Z themes and sounds.

What first got you into music? Who were your inspirations growing up?
I grew up as a dancer and it wasn’t until I joined a band in elementary school that I learned about songwriting which inspired me to write my own music. Growing up, artists like Gwen Stefani, Fergie and Lady Gaga were huge inspirations of mine. I loved their confidence and demeanour when performing. I was in awe of how they were unapologetically themselves,“POPSTAR” pays homage to all of these singers who inspired me to pursue a career in music.

How would you describe your sound?
I want to show people that you can make fun upbeat pop with meaning. My
empowering lyrics aim to encourage self-love, normalise vulnerability and motivate listeners to speak up and follow their dreams. I love making music because I make the music I want to make. When you try to think about what other people want to hear or start creating art that isn’t authentic to you, I think that’s where you can get lost. Staying true to myself has made music so rewarding and fun.

What is your creative process like?
My mind is always thinking which is good, and sometimes bad, but I’m grateful to be always inspired . The notes app on my phone is my most used app and it has been the biggest constant in my life when I need to write an idea down, vent, or just let my mind wander. I love creating and to be able to bring my ideas to life is so fulfilling.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5-10 years?
Releasing albums and touring the world! Performing is one of my favourite parts of being an artist, so I can’t wait to be able to design my own show. One of my dreams is to headline Coachella. I would also love to collaborate with producers like Pharell Williams, Timberland, and Mike Dean. In the meantime, I’m releasing a Christmas song called “Naughty or Nice!”.
