STRANGER THINGS S5: WHAT WE KNOW

Maya Hawke gave an update on the series’ final chapter, and we take a look at everything we know thus far.

It’s been years since we’ve been blessed with a fresh season of our favourite science fiction horror series, and the wait is only getting harder with each new bit of information we’re given. Delayed by the pandemic, and then again by the writer’s and actor’s strikes, filming for Season 5 of Stranger Things finally began back in January — though we still don’t know when we can expect production to wrap. Especially since Maya Hawke — aka Robin Buckley — teased that the episodes are extra long. “We’re making, basically, eight movies,” she explained on the Podcrushed podcast.

This rings true to previous comments made by executive producer Shawn Levy, and has us firmly on the edge of our seats to learn more. Season 4 had some lengthy episodes itself — the finale was two and a half hours — and if this is even longer, we’re certainly in for a treat.

What else do we know? We’ve rounded up all the hints and info about the forthcoming final season…

How will the season start?

Back in November, Netflix gifted us with the first lines of Episode 1’s script. Not too much to make of it, but hey, it’s something!

Has filming begun?

While we may not have a release date or even know when filming will wrap, one thing is certain — the actors have certainly stepped back into their iconic roles and began filming the season back in January. Check out Ross Duffer’s updates to quench your Stranger Things thirst.

Any new cast members?

The Terminator’s Linda Hamilton revealed she’ll be joining the cast during a Tudum event last year — questioning how she’ll put her fangirl to rest to do her job as an actor. We’d feel the same. But we can’t wait for more information on her character.

Will all our questions be answered?

We’re not too positive on this one, but we sure hope so!
