Rising R&B powerhouse Tamera knows exactly what she’s here for. Unveiling her newest 6-track EP, “L.I.T (Lost In Translation)”, she takes a deep dive into her own lived experiences by blending sounds from afrobeats to hip-hop, while intimately traversing a range of topics from codependency, lack of self-worth, trauma, overcoming abusive relationships, spirituality, and God.
““’L.I.T,’ meaning “lost in translation,” is an accurate description of the way my slightly chaotic and intense emotions have me feeling a lot of the time,” she tells us. “Writing this project pushed me to practice allowing myself to open up and confront some of the tough & raw feelings that have been pent up over the years. I’ve written about the light, the darkness, the love, the hate, the confidence & the shame that comes with being an over-sensitive, nonchalant, overthinking ‘it’s not that deep’ emotionally unavailable lover girl. Whew.”
To celebrate the release, she also shared an incredible Remi Laudat-directed video for the lead single “40 Days” featuring the Nigerian artist Ckay. Shot in the predominantly West African community in Paris, the video follows a romantic story of two lovers in the best Bonnie and Clyde style.

“Diversion”
“This song is about looking for something in someone else that you can only find within yourself. Being with someone when you know you need to be alone.
It’s a battle between wanting to feel loved but constantly looking for it in the wrong places due to lack of self-love & self-esteem.”
“Poison”
“Chasing the ever fleeting hit of dopamine I get from this person that almost always ends in a comedown. This person is like sugar, cigarettes & alcohol. They all seem like a fun idea at the time however they are highly addictive and in the long run, will probably be very bad for me but I guess you have to pick your “poison” in this life.”
“Intuition”
“This song is about trusting my heart instead of listening to my mind that has become my biggest baddest body guard. It’s about sacrificing the metaphorical walls I’ve built around myself to protect my feelings in order to submit to this new found love that has proven itself a safe haven.”
“Anchors”
“I wrote this song whilst emerging from my darkest days of 2022. I felt utter despair & I was only able to find my way out through prayer & mindfulness. Anchors is my love letter to God.”
“Bamba”
“Bamba Is a nickname for grandma. My grandma’s words have taken me out of dark times more than I can count. Throughout this song I touch on multiple staple points in my life. Things that have defined me as a person. I can only describe this song as a diary entry. It is my story.”
“40 days”
“This song was born from the yearning to be able to protect and defend what/who you love. Falling in love with someone who may have a Rocky past. Even though they may have left that part of themselves behind others may not be so quick to forget. So in this song I’m paying homage to the progress and efforts they have made to become better & offering a safe space for them to relax and disappear from the rest of the world when it gets too much.”
